Shipping is one of the most regulated industries in the world. International statutory regulations are mainly issued by IMO. These regulations are frequently revised and new requirements may retroactively apply to existing ships.

In addition to the Statutory News Bulletins, and in order to further help ship owners better understand the new statutory requirements and identify in a snapshot whether they are applicable to their ships and when they become mandatory, BV has issued a new periodic brochure "Navigating through statutory requirements", which will be issued annually and provide guidance on the statutory requirements made applicable during the current biennal.
