License setting |
The license file should be copied anywhere on your computer. Then in the Ariane7 interface menu bar, click on “Configuration -> Options”. In the window that appears, in the “General” tab, fill in the “License server / License file path” with the total path to your license file. Clicking on “Apply” validates the license path. |
[Error 14001] |
This is a Microsoft Windows® error message that can happen during a time domain calculation. This means that some Windows® libraries are not up to date and need to be updated. An executable application is available in the installation directory in the DLLs folder: “Ariane7 -> DLLs“ Then launch “vcredist_x86_2008.exe” which will update the Windows® libraries. |
Show / Hide 3D irregular waves |
3 dimensions irregular waves can be visualized after a single time domain simulation in the 3D viewer. This option can be set in “Configuration -> Options”, in the “OpenGL” tab, selecting “With 3D irregular waves”. Clicking on “Apply” saves the new settings. |
Check for updates |
In order to check if a new revision of Ariane7 is available for download on the website, a tool is available in the Ariane7 interface. Clicking on “Tools -> Check for updates” will display a pop-up window informing you on a possible release. It is also possible to automatically check for updates when launching Ariane7: “Configuration -> Options” in the “General” tab selecting “Check for update on Ariane7 launching” |
Convert Ariane 6.3 files |
It is possible to convert Ariane 6.3 files into the Ariane7 format. Ariane 6.3 files can be project, loading case and mesh files. Clicking on “Tools -> Convert files” opens a new frame containing different options. You will then have to select which conversion tool to use and a window will appear containing the converter. |
Result files specific extensions |
You can specify a specific extension for Ariane7 result files. This default extension can be set in “Configuration -> Options”. In the “Main Interface” tab, fill in the “Default extension for results file” with the desired extension. |
Output files specific editor |
You can specify a specific text editor for Ariane7 output files. This default editor can be set in “Configuration -> Options”. In the “Main Interface” tab, fill in the “Text editor” with the total path to the text editor executable. For example: “C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.EXE” |
Borrow a license |
It is possible to borrow a license from a server if you need to disconnect your laptop from the network or to launch a long batch simulation (access to server may not be fast enough in some case). To do so, click on “Tools -> Borrow licenses”. A pop-up window is displayed, containing simple instructions that will allow you to borrow a license from the server. It is important to note that if a license is borrowed from the server, there will be one license lacking on the server itself. |
Symmetrical hydrodynamic model |
Ariane7 hydrodynamic data has to be defined on 0-360°. However if you have the data defined on 0-180° or 180-360°, Ariane7 can automatically make the data symmetrical. To do so, two methods are available in the vessel’s loading case page:
Note that the symmetry tool will only work if the hydrodynamic data is defined on 0-180° or 180-360°. If not, Ariane will raise an error message informing you that the symmetry was not performed. |
Ariane7 stores |
Vessels, lines and environment definition are included in “Stores” in Ariane7 interface. This was done in order to help you in the project creation, allowing you to select already defined stores when creating a new project. For example once a mooring line store completed, it will be possible to export it and then import it in a new project. Doing so, you will not have to create once again lines already defined in another project. In addition, even if a store contains a lot of information, only part of it can be used in the project itself. |
Segments dynamic coefficients |
Segments dynamic coefficients are not used in the Ariane7 calculations. These coefficients should only be defined if line dynamics calculations are launched with the additional module from MCS. |
User defined segments |
Ariane7 allows you to define your own segment types in the LINE STORE. This can be done selecting “New” in the predefined segment combo box located in the segment’s page. You will then have to fill in the segment’s parameters fields, name the segment type after a name of your choice and click on “Save”. The segments defined in this manner will be available in your segments database for all your different projects; they will be added to the Ariane7 default segment types. The user defined segments parameters are saved in a file located in the Ariane7 installation folder: “Ariane7\data\segments_db.dat”. This file is not erased when uninstalling Ariane7 from your computer, in order to keep it for a later installation. However you have to take care not deleting the complete installation folder if you want to keep your own segment types. |
