Service Providers :
Sevice Providers are those Firms providing services on behalf of the owner of a ship or a mobile offshore unit, such as measurements, tests and maintenance of safety systems and equipment, the results of which are used by Surveyors in making descisions affecting classification.
Service Providers eligible to recognition by the Society in accordance with Rule Note NR 320 , Chapter 5 are, namely, those involved in any of the following activities :
Thickness measurements connected to special and intermediate surveys of ships submitted to the IACS Enhanced Survey Programme may only be performed by approved companies having been assessed by Bureau Veritas and having received a BV Certificate of Approval.

Subject to some particular conditions and to Bureau Veritas agreement, the periodical survey of submerged parts of the hull may be performed in water, in an alternate basis. These underwater inspections may only be performed by diving companies approved by Bureau Veritas.

Other Service Providers, eligible to recognition by the Society :
- Tightness measurement of hatches with ultrasonic equipment
- Survey and maintenance of fire-extinguishing / fire-detection equipment and systems
- Servicing of inflatable liferafts, inflated boats/ rescue boats, inflatable lifejackets, hydrostatic release, etc.
- Servicing and testing of radio-communication equipment
- Inspection and testing of centralised gas welding and cutting equipment
- Surveys and maintenance of self-contained air breathing apparatus or emergency escape breathing devices
- Examination of Ro-Ro ship's bow, stern, and inner doors
- Servicing and testing of Low-Location Lighting systems.
- etc.
Testing Laboratories :
For the purpose of their acceptance, by the Society, of type test reports related to items of equipment or materials applied for Bureau Veritas/MCA/MMF Type Approval or M.E.D. EC Type Examination, the facilites and organization of involved Testing Laboratories are to be accepted by the Society prior to carry out the tests. Testing Laboratories may apply the Society for being granted with a Certificate of Recognition, describing the scope of the recognition and the conditions of test witnessing.
