Our services

Bureau Veritas delivers to its clients customised services helping them to create added economic value through risk management and performance optimisation. Its marine Division contributes to improving and maintaining safety and quality standards in the maritime industry in accordance with its general conditions. It offers a broad range of services : 

  • Classification of ships and offshore units
  • Statutory Certification of ships and offshore units, quality (ISM) and security (ISPS) systems certification, and certification of marine equipment and materials
  • Additional Services to classification and certification, that can be delivered for any ship, whether classed with Bureau Veritas or not

The services provided by Bureau Veritas cover the entire ship’s life cycle, since the very first phases of the ship’s design until the surveys and certification of ships in operation. These services may be described as:

  • Services provided during the New Construction. It includes the publication of Rules and Regulations, design review, certification of materials and equipment, surveys during construction, attendance at tests and trials and issuance of class and statutory certificates
  • Services provided for Ships in Service. This includes classification and statutory surveys, classification after construction, publication of the Register of Ships, issuance of class attestations, ISM certification, ISPS certification, and analysis and feed back information on damages and repairs
  • Research and Development – R&D. As the largest and strongest group in the world involved in shipping and offshore classification and verification, BV supports major research programmes, and devotes staff to transferring the benefits of that research into useful services to shipyards, owners and operators.
  • Inland Navigation. As early as 1902, Bureau Veritas published its first Rules for construction and classification of Inland Vessels. Inland activities grew up continuously, thus to ensure close contract with the major players of Inland Activities, Bureau Veritas moved its head office dedicated to inland vessels to antwerp.
